Overview

Highlights & Benefits

Our Principal Instructors, Alan P. Agins, PhD and Jody F. Agins, MSN, RNP, FNP/GNP-BC, have designed a comprehensive course which addresses the pharmacology and therapeutic uses of current medications used for primary care, as well as common clinical issues and concerns related to prescribing.  For more than two decades, “Pharmacology for Advanced Practice Clinicians,” continues to be the “go-to” outpatient pharmacology course, whether you are applying for or renewing prescriptive authority or renewing your ANCC certification.

Highlights and benefits of this course include:

  • 7 information-packed days with up to 52.5 hours of pharmacology content, taught by a nationally-renowned “teaching” pharmacologist together with experienced clinical faculty.
  • The use of both didactic and case-based approaches allows you to meet the ANCC’s new rules for re-certification as well as the requirements for prescriptive authority* in many states. Daily registration is also available.
  • A Pediatric Pharmacology Preconference, focusing on medications and prescribing regimens specific to caring for children in the outpatient setting. The Pharmacology Course’s primary focus is adults in the outpatient setting, so plan to attend this Preconference if you need additional knowledge about prescribing for children.

* States’ requirements for prescriptive authority vary. Please contact your State Board of Nursing regarding educational requirements.

Conference Objectives

  • Explain the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of drugs and select dietary supplements used to treat outpatient primary care conditions.
  • Discuss pharmaceutical options and therapeutic regimens for maximizing effectiveness while minimizing adverse reactions, including monitoring of the patient’s response.
  • Demonstrate clinical application of the pharmacology content through case study discussion.
  • Provide appropriate patient education regarding drug therapy.
  • Review the professional and legal aspects of prescribing and furnishing drugs.

  • Certified Nurse-Midwives
  • Clinical Nurse Specialists
  • Physician Assistants
  • Registered Nurses
  • Nurse Educators
  • Physicians
  • Pharmacists

… and anyone else interested in a comprehensive primary care pharmacology update.

This was the best conference I have attended. The faculty presenting were well versed in current practice standards, enthusiastic about their field, captivating the audience, and were able to provide case studies from current practice experience. The pharmacology review was the most comprehensive and presented in a manner that was practical for direct clinical correlation. Jasmine Dolan DNP, FNP-BC Suffolk, VA
