Principal Instructors

For two decades, Dr. Alan P. Agins PhD, the founder and president of PRN Associates, has presented all topics of pharmacology through continuing education programs to over 90,000 advanced practice clinicians. In addition to lecturing nationally, Dr. Agins has held faculty appointments at the School of Pharmacy at Northeastern University, University of Virginia School of Nursing, and the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, where he was the receipient of the Dean’s Teaching Excellence Award for five years consecutively. For the ER-LA Opioids Collaborative for REMS Education (CO*RE) where he is a faculty presenter through the Nurse Practitioner Healthcare Foundation, Alan developed an internet-based streaming video continuing education course. He has authored two books and numerous CE monographs, co-authored textbook chapters, and has served as a primary reviewer for various journals. Dr. Agins has also presented more than 300 live webinars to pharmacists for healthcare staffing giant AMN Healthcare. Dr. Agins has a Masters in Pharmacology and Toxicology and a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Rhode Island.

Jody Agins, MSN, RNP, FNP/GNP-BC, is the founder and president of Collaborative Medical Provider Group PLLC, a consortium of private-practice clinicians in Tucson, Arizona. Mrs. Agins also serves as the Clinical Services Director/Nurse Practitioner for Agape Hospice and Palliative Care as well as a clinical preceptor for family and geriatric nurse practitioner students. In addition to her active clinical practice, Jody currently acts as the Vice President – President Elect for the Southern Arizona Advanced Practice Nurse - Nurse Practitioner Society. Regularly invited to speak nationally on topics ranging from gerontology and wound care to coding and pain management, Mrs. Agins is also a faculty presenter for ER-LA Opioids Collaborative for REMS Education (CO*RE) through the Nurse Practitioner Healthcare Foundation. Jody received her MSN and Family Nurse Practitioner from the School of Nursing at the University of Kansas Medical Center and is ANCC board certified in Family Practice and Gerontology.

The Nurse Practitioner Healthcare Foundation is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing eduction by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. 2.5 hours of CE and pharmacology will be awarded by NPHF for “Opioid Prescribing: Safe Practice, Changing Lives - Update 2018,” upon completion of the Assessment and Evaluation at the end of Friday’s session.

This Pediatric Pharmacology Preconference is approved for a maximum of 7.5 NAPNAP contact hours of which a maximum of 7.5 contain pharmacology (Rx) content per the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) Continuing Education Guidelines. Contemporary Forums, NAPNAP Approved Provider, Agency #12.


Content to meet the requirements of the California Board of Registered Nursing Furnishing License to furnish Schedule II medications will be presented on Friday at the San Francisco & Las Vegas events only and will NOT be presented during the Nashville event. California Nurse Practitioners & Certified Nurse-Midwives with an existing furnishing number may register to attend the Friday courses in San Francisco & Las Vegas and will receive a Schedule II certificate upon completion. This conference has multiple ACPE Universal Activity Numbers and is a knowledge-based CPE activity.

Webcast attendees are eligible for Live APCE credit.  Attendees watching On Demand (recorded conference) are eligible for Home Study ACPE credit only.

Contemporary Forums will utilize CPE Monitor for tracking and reporting of all ACPE accredited sessions. Pharmacists will need to create their e-profile at in order to obtain their NABP e-Profile ID (ePID).
