Pharmacology Update for Primary Care Clinicians
Alan P. Ag ins, PhD
Jody F. Ag ins, MSN, RNP, FNP/GNP-BC, WCC

Keeping up with new medications and prescribing regimens is a challenge for primary care clinicians. The benefits of medications have to be balanced with the potential for side effects or drugrelated complications. It is essential that we understand the interrelationships of disease and effective therapy as we provide the best care for our patients. This Preconference will update you on newer trends and options for pharmacotherapy and will address common clinical issues and concerns related to prescribing medications. Many of you know Alan P. Agins, PhD and Jody F. Agins, MSN, RNP, FNP/GNP-BC, WCC as the principal instructors for the Contemporary Forums' Pharmacology Course. Join them in Jackson Hole for what is certain to be a dynamic and collaborative discussion on what's new in pharmacology for primary care.

Objectives

  • Identify pharmacologic considerations for a variety of medications used in primary care.
  • Discuss medication management for the elderly, avoiding duplication among care providers and minimizing complications.
  • Develop a strategy for treating chronic pain through drug combinations.
  • Demonstrate interprofessional care through collaboration in case discussion.
