A variety of infection control products and approaches are presented in this lively and interactive hands-on workshop.  Basic disease transmission and infection control are explored in light of current documented knowledge while using products as instructional tools.  Misconceptions and common problems will be discussed, along with potential implications and consequences.  The program is intended to help participants get maximum effectiveness from their infection control efforts.  Really use, and really see (with glow-germs and other activities) how different techniques and products work!

 3:00 Dental Practice Act Course

This course is designed to meet the requirements of the Dental Board of California by adhering to content for CDPA mandated by regulation to include California Code of Regulations 1600 and shall instruct on acts in violation of the Dental Practice Act and other statutory mandates relating to the dental practice. The course includes information on the structure of the Dental Board, governing bodies, utilization and scope of practice for auxiliaries, scope of practice for dentists, laws governing the prescribing of drugs, citations, fines, revocations and suspensions, mandatory reporter status and license renewal. This course reviews the DPA topics and regulations that are required for relicensure.

Nancy Andrews, RDH, BS graduated from, and was a clinical instructor in Dental Hygiene at the University of Southern California and teaches General and Oral Pathology and Dental Hygiene and Infection Control at West Coast University, Department of Dental Hygiene.  She is a nationally recognized speaker, author and consultant, focusing on infectious diseases, clinical safety, instrument sharpening, ergonomics and preventive dentistry.  Ms. Andrews is a "Top 100 U.S. Speaker", and is on the California Dental Association, ADA and OSAP speakers/consultants bureaus. Ms. Andrews is an experienced author of journal articles, has contributed to textbook chapters and guidelines such as the 2009 ADA Infection Control Wall Poster, CE courses, newsletters, product literature and website content.

Jerry Minsky, DDS graduated from Georgetown University School of Dentistry, Washington, DC.  He is a Clinical Supervising Dentist and Assistant Professor at West Coast University in the Dental Hygiene Department and an Assistant Professor at Western University of Health Sciences, College of Dental Medicine. He is a well seasoned dental speaker having provided educational lectures at Kaiser Hospital, Whittier Presbyterian Hospital, Indian Health Service, California Dental Program, Cerritos College Dental Hygiene Program, and the Department of Health and Human Services National Disaster Medical System.

Dr. Minsky is a Forensic DDS who works for the US Government in providing victim identification in mass disaster situations. He also maintains a private dental practice in Southern California specializing in caring for medically complex and physically and developmentally challenged patients.

Tuition discounts are given to groups of 3 or more registering for the conference.
To qualify for the group discount, all registration information must be complete for all group members, payment included and forms sent together. If faxing, list all group members on cover sheet. Subtract the discount from the tuition fee. Groups may not be formed after individual registrations are received.

Method of Tuition Payment

Make payment by check (payable to Contemporary Forums and enclose with Registration Form), Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express or Purchase Order. A $30 fee is charged for any returned check. Personal checks are NOT accepted at the conference. Purchase Orders must be received with registration by the conference date and include the P.O. number, invoice address, tuition, approval signature, contact name, email address and phone number.

Cancellations

Cancellations may be made by phone or in writing.  Cancellations received on/before January 21 receive a full tuition refund. Cancellations received after January 21 are assessed a $20 processing fee. No refunds for cancellations received after the conference begins or for "no shows." If this meeting is cancelled for any reason, including labor strikes or acts of God, liability is limited to a full refund of registration fees.
