Highlights and Benefits

In the current environment of health promotion and disease prevention, primary care is in the spotlight. The rational use of diagnostic tests and new medications, reduction of cardiovascular risk factors, issues in women's health and pediatric care, behavioral approaches for a healthier outcome, and management of chronic disease, all combine as mandates as we move forward in the 21st century. We all know the aging population will put incredible demands on the current health care system. What can we do to prepare
for this challenge?

Designed for NPs, MDs, PAs, CNMs, and RNs from primary care settings, Hot Topics in Primary Care will focus on collaborative approaches for these and other clinical care issues. Sponsored by Contemporary Forums, a leader in quality continuing education, in partnership with JNP: The Journal for Nurse Practitioners, this conference brings together an outstanding panel of clinically active faculty members who
will discuss the challenges you face daily in your office or clinic setting. Highlights of the conference include:

A number of "Hot Topics" you deal with in your every day practice, addressed in a variety of teaching styles including didactic sessions, faculty panels, concurrent sessions, and interactive case study discussions.

An emphasis on prevention as we look at evidence-based approaches for managing chronic and acute
health problems.

A comprehensive approach to primary care, including topics on pediatrics, women's health, pharmacology, and geriatrics.

The glorious setting of Jackson Hole and the Grand Tetons, where you can combine outstanding education with time to explore this incomparable setting.

Bring your questions and puzzling cases…this dynamic faculty will give you answers and guidance. Plan now to join your colleagues at Hot Topics in Primary Care!

Location

JACKSON HOLE, WY

Summer in Jackson Hole– breathtaking in beauty, backcountry solitude, western ambience – offers an experience unmatched anywhere. Located in the northwest corner of Wyoming, Jackson Hole is a lovely alpine valley dwarfed by towering snowcapped mountains, ringed by majestic stands of timber and dotted with high mountain lakes. Within its confines lie Grand Teton National Park, the National Elk Refuge and the friendly town of Jackson– gateway to Yellowstone National Park. Nowhere else will you find such a magnificent display of nature mixed with unlimited activities.

The Grand Tetons may be the world's greatest range of mountains – majestic by day, mysterious by night;
purple-pink at dawn, slate-blue at dusk; sometimes misty, sometimes clear, but always trimmed by snow. You can hike at the base of these spectacular mountains and capture the dazzling array of wild flowers, prolific wildlife and stunning peaks which are among the most photographed in the world.

The Snake River, which winds its way along the base of the Tetons, provides a perfect playground for scenic float trips as it uncoils its way through the valley, or a whitewater adventure through one of its canyons. Then ride to the top of Rendezvous Mountain for one of the world's most spectacular panoramic views on the high speed Aerial Tram with its 4,139-foot vertical rise over 2.4 miles.

In the evening, kick up your heels western style to live entertainment at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar or attend the unique Jackson Hole rodeo. Over 40 restaurants in Jackson Hole offer menus to suit all tastes – from Jackson Hole offer menus to suit all tastes - from sourdough pancakes at Jedediah's to delicious prime rib in the lively atmosphere of the Mangy Moose and wild game at the Gun Barrel Steak and Game House. Experience the authenticity of a Paris bistro at Rendezvous Bistro or the creative cuisine and upscale atmosphere of Snake River Grill.

If you want a real taste of the Old West, Jackson Hole boasts some of the finest western entertainment and offers everything from an evening horseback ride and steak fry to an outdoor chuckwagon dinner. The picturesque stagecoach ride around the town square and exciting shootout, held there every evening for the last 45 years, complete this western flavor.

The arts flourish in Jackson Hole during this time of year. The Grand Teton Music Festival offers nightly
concerts from Beethoven to Bartok, performed by some of the nation's finest musicians. There are numerous art galleries displaying the works of well-known artists who make their homes here. And you won't want to miss the National Museum of Wildlife Art, situated on a dramatic cliff overlooking the National Elk Refuge.
