Overview

Highlights & Benefits

What issues do you find particularly challenging as you care for women in perimenopause and menopause? Is it their physical complaints as they try to cope with the discomforts associated with hormone changes? Or maybe their confusion (and yours!) over whether or not hormone therapy is an option for them? Are you up to speed on the current national guidelines related to preventive screening for older women? Are you hearing more complaints about mood changes, sleep disturbances and changes in libido and do you have tools and strategies to share with them? Are your overweight patients finding it more challenging to lose weight and what recommendations can you provide that are both realistic and successful?

Join us in Las Vegas for the 20th annual conference, "Advances in Health Care for Women Over 40," where your challenges will be addressed, the latest research will be translated into clinical pearls and your knowledge gaps will be filled in by our expert faculty. This national conference features evidence-based approaches for assessing and managing the common and complex problems women face as they transition through menopause. Bring your questions and puzzling cases…our dynamic faculty will give you answers and guidance. And be prepared to hear information that may conflict with your current practice and protocols. After all, isn't that what continuing education is all about?

Why You Shouldn't Miss This Conference!

  • Three dynamic Preconferences: Sexuality as Women Age; Vulvar Dermatology; and Vulvar Biopsy and Suturing Skills Training.
  • A number of "Hot Topics," issues you deal with every day in your practice, addressed in a variety of teaching styles including didactic sessions, faculty panels, Concurrent Sessions, interactive case study discussions and hands-on trainings.
  • Access to leaders in the field of menopause management who will help you create an action plan for improving your care for older women.
  • The Online CE Library where you can listen to sessions you couldn't attend, earn additional CE for free, and reference important details after the conference.
  • All the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas and the Paris Hotel, centrally located on "The Strip," with easy access to all the attractions!
  • CAN'T COME TO VEGAS? Attend "virtually" by registering for the Live Webcast. See Page 3 for details.
  • Can you think of a reason NOT to attend? See you there!

Preconference A • 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Sexuality as Women Age: Improving Clinical Management and Communication Skills

Sheryl A. Kingsberg, PhD
Michael L. Krychman, MD, FACOG

Think about it … how often in your interactions with patients does the subject of sex come up? And how
comfortable are you discussing this sensitive issue with your patients? Female sexual problems, such as
decreased libido, increased physical discomfort, and difficulty reaching orgasm are common complaints heard in clinical practice. What are the state-of-the-art diagnostic and management strategies available for treating women with sexual concerns? What communication strategies are best when working with women and couples with sexual concerns? This Preconference will provide you with expert consensus on current female sexual medicine evaluation and therapeutics as well as hands-on skills development for improving communication through video vignettes, mock interviews and case studies.

This Preconference will enable you to:

  • Assess female sexual dysfunction using history and physical, lab tests, and other physical examination tools.
  • Discuss the psychological evaluation and assessment of women with sexual dysfunction.
  • Enhance communication skills around sexual issues through video vignettes and interviews.
  • Describe psychotherapeutic, behavioral and sex therapy approaches for sexual problems.
  • Examine the role of testosterone and other emerging sexual pharmacology as treatment options.
  • Distinguish when to treat the woman with sexual dysfunction in the office and when to refer her to a psychologist, physical therapist or sexual medicine specialist.
